Yogi Adityanath Announces Rs 50 lakh Aid to Family of Armyman killed in Rajouri
On Thursday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made a poignant announcement, expressing the state support for the family of Captain Shubham Gupta. The brave officer lost his life in an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir Rajouri on Wednesday.
In a gesture of solidarity, Chief Minister Adityanath declared a compensation of Rs 50 lakh for Captain Gupta family. Additionally, he offered a government job to one of the family members and announced the naming of a road in Agra in honor of the fallen soldier.
A tweet from the UP Chief Minister Office conveyed the state government condolences, stating, "The Uttar Pradesh government is with the bereaved family members of the martyred captain at this hour of grief."
Captain Shubham Gupta hailed from Agra district in Uttar Pradesh and was one of the four Indian Army personnel who lost their lives during the encounter. Tragically, the toll rose to five on Thursday as another jawan succumbed during the ongoing operation.
According to Captain Gupta cousin, Nitin, his inspiration to join the military stemmed from his uncle Tota Ram Gupta, a retired Army Medical Corps personnel. Nitin shared that Captain Shubham Gupta had been preparing for a career in the Armed Forces since Class 10 and successfully secured a position in his first attempt.
Expressing the family grief, Nitin mentioned that they were actively searching for a suitable match for Captain Shubham Gupta. The soldier father, Basant Gupta, expressed pride in his son commitment to protecting the country.
Captain Gupta joined the Indian Army in 2015 and received his commission in 2018, as revealed by his brother, Rishabh Gupta. Describing the late officer as a daring and highly trained individual, Rishabh noted that Captain Shubham Gupta had specialized in the Special Forces and had undertaken numerous critical missions. His initial posting was in Udhampur.
The final rites for Captain Shubham Gupta are scheduled to take place on Friday, marking a somber farewell to a valiant officer who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.
