Defense News ,Poland :- The U.S. Department of State has given the green light for Poland to purchase a significant number of air missiles. This approval, issued by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), covers a variety of missile types, totaling around 1800 units, with an estimated maximum value of USD 3.7 billion.
1. AGM-158B-2 JASSM-ER Cruise Missiles:
- Poland is approved to buy 821 of these cruise missiles.
- The package includes test equipment, support for the weapon system, integration support, and classified software.
- Lockheed Martin will provide engineering, technical, and logistics support.
- The total cost for this approval is estimated to be USD 1.77 billion.
2. AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM Air-to-Air Missiles:
- Poland is given the green light for the potential purchase of 745 medium-range AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM missiles.
- The package also includes training missiles, weapon racks, spare parts, and various support services.
- RTX will provide engineering, technical, and logistics support.
- The total cost for this approval is estimated to be USD 1.69 billion.
3. AIM-9X Sidewinder Block II Missiles:
- Poland is approved to buy 232 short-range AIM-9X Tactical Sidewinder Block II missiles.
- The package includes training aids, spare parts, technical support, and other related logistics.
- The estimated total cost for this approval is USD 219.1 million.
