Three U.S. Service Members Killed, 25 Wounded in Drone Strike By Iran-Backed Militia in Jorda US Military Base

Defense News ,Middile East :- In a statement released on Sunday, President Joe Biden confirmed the tragic loss of three American service members and numerous injuries resulting from a drone strike in Jordan. The President attributed the attack to Iran-backed militia groups, marking the first U.S. fatalities in months of strikes against American forces across the Middle East amid the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza.

President Biden declared, "The United States will hold all those responsible to account at a time and in a manner of our choosing," signaling a commitment to addressing the escalating tensions in the region.

Jordan, the kingdom bordering Iraq, Israel, the West Bank, Saudi Arabia, and Syria, has not yet issued an immediate response to the incident.

The U.S. has traditionally used Jordan as a key basing point, with around 3,000 American troops stationed in the country. This attack on Jordan's soil is a significant development, as U.S. troops in Iraq and Syria have faced drone and missile attacks on their bases since the commencement of Israel's war on Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

President Biden was briefed on the attack on Sunday morning, according to White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. The incident further underscores the volatile situation in the Middle East and the challenges faced by American military personnel stationed in the region.
