TEDBF Prototype And Naval TEJAS Development Slated To Be Readt By 2026

Looking into the future, the HAL Twin Engine Deck Based Fighter (TEDBF)
prototype is on track to be completed by 2026, and production is set to
commence by 2032. The Naval TEJAS plays a vital role as a technology
demonstrator, signaling India commitment to advancing specialized
technologies for deck-based fighter operations.
Recent
enhancements to the Vikrant underscore India unwavering dedication to
enhancing its naval capabilities. With the incorporation of cutting-edge
radar and missiles, the aircraft carrier solidifies its position as a
cornerstone in safeguarding the nation maritime interests. The evolution
from conceptualizing advanced fighters to the selection of the Rafale-M
highlights India strategic vision in establishing a formidable naval
air wing.
The development of INS Vikrant air wing reflects a
meticulous evaluation of various aircraft options. The initial
considerations included the MiG-29K and LCA Navy, leading to the
conceptualization of the HAL TEDBF, unveiled at the 2021 Aero India Air
Show.
In 2012, discussions leaned towards the potential
acquisition of the Dassault Rafale-M (Naval Variant), showcasing India
pursuit of advanced naval fighters. Subsequent years involved a series
of evaluations and trials, encompassing the testing of TEJAS, MiG-29K,
and even the Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet.
The conclusive
decision, announced on July 15, 2023, revealed India choice of the
Rafale M, aligning with the nation logistics system. Prime Minister
Narendra Modi, during his Bastille Day parade visit to France on July
14, 2023, played a pivotal role in announcing the acquisition of 24 to
30 Rafale fighter jets.
