Successful Tests of Akinci Drone ,Hits Moving Sea Target with Guided Munitions
Defense News ,Turkey :- Baykar Technologies, a Turkish company that creates drones, recently announced a big achievement in the development of the Akinci drone. In their latest tests, the Akinci drone successfully targeted and hit a moving boat using advanced technology.
During the test, the Akinci drone used the Aseflir-500 electro-optical head and guided bombs called MAM-L and MAM-T. These guided bombs were crucial in accurately hitting the moving maritime target.
The target in the test was the Albatros-T unmanned surface target boat, made by another Turkish company called Aselsan. The Albatros-T is a 5.5-meter-long and 1.65-meter-wide boat capable of reaching speeds up to 40 knots.
Baykar didn't provide many details about the tests, but hitting a moving target is a significant step forward in making the Akinci drone more effective.
The guided bombs, MAM-L and MAM-T, used in the tests are made by Roketsan. They are laser-guided, with MAM-L having a range of up to 15km and MAM-T exceeding 30km. The MAM-T is more powerful, weighing 95kg compared to MAM-L’s 22kg.
Throughout the tests, the Aseflir-500 electro-optical system, developed by Aselsan, played a crucial role in guiding the bombs to accurately hit the moving target. This system represents the next generation in electro-optical technology.
While many details are still undisclosed, this achievement marks a significant advancement in the capabilities of the Akinci drone.
