Steadicopter Unveils' Black Eagle 50H' Hybrid-Powered Unmanned Helicopter with AIS Technology

Defense News ,Israel :- Israeli company Steadicopter has upgraded its Black Eagle 50H, a hybrid-powered unmanned helicopter, by adding an automatic identification system (AIS) to its payload. This innovation makes the Black Eagle 50H the first of its kind in Steadicopter's remotely unmanned air vehicle (RUAV) family.

The Black Eagle 50H, with a maximum takeoff weight of 50 kg, stands out for its ability to carry multiple large or smaller payloads. It boasts an impressive five-hour flight time, offering exceptional endurance compared to other VTOL platforms in its class. This makes it a versatile choice for various applications, including search & rescue, cyber operations, intelligence gathering, offshore rig support, and high-end naval missions.

Equipped with a hybrid engine and propulsion system, the Black Eagle 50H combines the strengths of the electric 50E and gas-powered 50 variants. This results in a cost-effective, user-friendly, environmentally friendly, and safe platform. The helicopter inherits proven capabilities from its gasoline-powered counterpart, including vertical take-off and landing, extended hover durations, and top-notch mission sensor suites suitable for day and night scenarios. Additionally, it offers reliability and adaptability for high-altitude flights, making it deployable in various operational scenarios.

The hybrid platform enhances mission versatility by allowing operators to switch between generator and direct battery power, offering optimal covert capabilities during missions. This flexibility adds a new dimension to the Black Eagle 50H's operational capabilities.

Itai Toren, CEO of Steadicopter, highlights the significance of the added AIS technology. It enables operators to better identify ships and focus on potential threats. The AIS complements the electro-optic system and maritime radar already present on this advanced unmanned helicopter, further enhancing its capabilities.
