Saab Secures $101.7 Million Boeing Contract for T-7A Aft Fuselage Systems Production

Defense News ,Sweden :- Swedish Aerospace and Defense company Saab has been honored with a contract from Boeing, valued at USD 101.7 million (approximately SEK 1 billion), to manufacture T-7A aft fuselage systems. The booking of this substantial order took place in the final quarter of 2023.

The production of the T-7A aft fuselage systems is slated to occur at Saab's cutting-edge manufacturing facility located in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Lars Tossman, the head of Saab's Aeronautics business area, expressed confidence in the venture, emphasizing the creation of a state-of-the-art and forward-thinking advanced pilot training system. Tossman anticipates that this program will continue to supply aircraft for many years. He notes, "This order ensures the ramp-up of serial production to meet both current and future customers’ increased needs."

Boeing's decision to award this contract follows the successful delivery of the initial two T-7A Red Hawks to U.S. Air Force bases for developmental flight tests. The first T-7A was dispatched to Edwards Air Force Base, while the second found its place at Eglin Air Force Base. This latest contract reinforces the collaborative efforts between Saab and Boeing in contributing to the advancement of modern and effective pilot training systems.
