Rocket Sirens Sound in Israeli city of Eilat

In Eilat, the southernmost city of Israel, sirens rang out on Monday, marking the 61st day of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, as reported by The Times of Israel. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) are investigating the cause of the alarms. Witnesses reported observing air defense activity and at least one interception.

During the prolonged conflict, the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen have launched numerous ballistic missiles and drones toward Eilat, all of which were intercepted or missed their targets, according to The Times of Israel. In a recent incident, a school in Eilat was struck by drones linked to a Syrian group supported by Iran.

The IDF, in response to an unmanned aerial vehicle launched toward Eilat, targeted an organization and held the Syrian government accountable for terror activities originating from its territory. Additionally, IDF fighter jets struck Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure in Lebanon, hitting compounds, observation posts, and technological equipment used against Israeli civilians.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized international human rights organizations, women groups, and the UN for not condemning the acts committed by Hamas against Israeli women. He called for global leaders to speak out against these atrocities.

The conflict in Gaza intensified after an October 7 attack by Hamas, where 2,500 terrorists breached the border into Israel from the Gaza Strip, resulting in casualties and hostage-taking. Israel has framed its Gaza offensive as targeting Hamas infrastructure to eliminate the entire terror group while striving to minimize civilian casualties.
