Rheinmetall Secures EUR 300 Million Contract to Supply Rocket Launcher Ammunition to NATO Member
Defense News ,NATO :- Rheinmetall, a leading global supplier in artillery systems, has secured a significant order to provide multiple rocket launcher ammunition to a European member of NATO. The contract, valued at over EUR 300 million, was officially booked in December 2023, and the delivery is scheduled to take place between 2024 and 2027.
The responsibility for manufacturing and delivering the rockets lies with Rheinmetall Expal Munitions of Spain. These rockets boast a remarkable maximum range of 300 km, making them a crucial addition to the recipient's defense capabilities. The order also encompasses supplementary services and other associated systems, reinforcing Rheinmetall's comprehensive approach to meeting the diverse needs of its clients.
This achievement marks Rheinmetall's maiden success in the rocket artillery sector, validating the recent strategic expansion of its product portfolio. Notably, on February 12, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for a new factory in Unterlüß, Lower Saxony. This facility will be dedicated to the production of explosives, artillery ammunition, and rocket artillery components, further solidifying Rheinmetall's commitment to innovation and growth.
Renowned for its expertise in artillery systems, including 120mm smoothbore tank ammunition and cannon-based air defense, Rheinmetall has been a trusted partner of the artillery branch for over 125 years.
