Qualcomm Announces Support for India NavIC L1 Signals in select Chipset

Chip manufacturer Qualcomm Technologies Inc. has announced its support for India Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC) satellite system. This support will be integrated into selected commercial chipset platforms within the company upcoming product lineup. Qualcomm is also committed to collaborating with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to expedite the adoption of NavIC, aiming to enhance geolocation capabilities and overall resilience in mobile, automotive, and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions across the region.

Francesco Grilli, Vice President of Product Management at Qualcomm Technologies Inc., expressed enthusiasm about fortifying the company commitment to India by incorporating support for the newly launched NavIC L1 signals in their chipset platforms. The partnership with ISRO remains a priority, and Qualcomm is dedicated to advancing the adoption of NavIC, ensuring compatibility with the latest NavIC technologies for more sophisticated geolocation applications.

Qualcomm plans to leverage its engineering talent in India to achieve these objectives. Manish Saxena, Director of the Satellite Navigation Programme Office at ISRO headquarters, emphasized the significance of NavIC as a crucial step in harnessing space technology for the country progress.
