Polish Armed Forces Successfully Test Rosomak Vehicles with ZSSW-30 Unmanned Turret System
Defense News ,Poland :- The Polish Armed Forces recently conducted their inaugural live firing exercise featuring the advanced Rosomak wheeled combat vehicles equipped with the cutting-edge ZSSW-30 unmanned turret system, a notable development from the Polish defense industry.
In December 2023, the first set of Rosomak vehicles integrated with the ZSSW-30 unmanned turret system was delivered to the Polish Armed Forces. This milestone followed a significant contract signed in July 2022, wherein the Polish defense procurement agency inked a deal worth approximately EUR 400 million with a consortium of domestic defense industry firms. The agreement focused on integrating a total of 70 Rosomak combat vehicles, drawn from the Polish Armed Forces' stocks, with the advanced ZSSW-30 unmanned turret system.
The Polish Armament Agency had previously entered into a comprehensive framework agreement for the acquisition of 341 ZSSW-30 unmanned turret systems. Developed by the collaboration between Polish defense industry companies, Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW) and WB Electronics, the ZSSW-30 boasts the powerful Bushmaster Mk 44/S 30mm cannon, the UKM-2000 machine gun 7.62mm, and Spike LR anti-tank guided missiles as its effectors.
The General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces emphasized the significant enhancement in transporters' capabilities, especially in countering tanks, owing to the dual launcher of Spike anti-tank guided missiles incorporated in the unmanned turrets. However, sources suggest that the Polish Armament Agency is planning to further advance the ZSSW-30 turret, exploring the addition of a launcher for Javelin missiles in a future version.
