The Polish Defence Procurement Agency, known as the Armament Agency, has sealed a deal with WB Electronics for the acquisition of FlyEye reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The contract, valued at around EUR 13.5 million (PLN 57.6 million), will see WB Electronics delivering seven FlyEye drone systems to the Polish Armed Forces. Each system consists of four reconnaissance drones and one ground control station. The delivery of all ordered FlyEye drones is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. These drones will be put into operation by the Territorial Defence Forces.

This procurement agreement falls within the framework established by a previous agreement signed in September 2023 between the Polish defence procurement agency and WB Electronics. This framework outlines the terms for the potential purchase of up to 400 FlyEye systems in total.

The FlyEye UAVs are categorized as mini-class drones and are primarily designed for conducting aerial image reconnaissance. Equipped with optoelectronic heads housing cameras capable of capturing images in daylight and thermal imaging conditions, the system has undergone successful testing within the Polish Military. It serves various units, including the Operational Forces and the Territorial Defence Forces, and has also been deployed during wartime operations in Ukraine, as reported by the Polish Armament Agency.

Overall, this procurement marks a step forward in enhancing the reconnaissance capabilities of the Polish Armed Forces through the deployment of modern UAV technology.
