Over 100 Israeli Soldiers Sacrificed his Life in Gaza war : Israel Defense Force
In the latest update from the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), three additional soldiers lost their lives in the ongoing conflict in the southern Gaza Strip, bringing the total number of troops killed in the ground offensive against Hamas to 104, as reported by The Times of Israel on Monday.
The fatal incident occurred when an explosive device targeted the soldiers in the Khan Younis area, resulting in four others being wounded, one in serious condition. Since the ground invasion commenced on October 27, approximately 600 IDF members have sustained injuries, according to IDF information.
On the Palestinian side, the Hamas-controlled Ministry of Health in Ramallah revealed that between October 7 and December 9, at least 17,700 Palestinians lost their lives in Israeli attacks in Gaza. CNN reported that 70% of these casualties included children, women, and the elderly, based on information from sources within the Hamas-controlled enclave.
In a gesture of solidarity with Gaza, Lebanon declared a nationwide closure of all government offices and public institutions on Monday. Prime Minister Najib Mikati attributed the move to a global call for Gaza and expressed solidarity with Palestinians in both Gaza and Lebanese border villages.
Amidst this, the IDF identified and intercepted "a number of launches" from Lebanon towards Israel on Monday, responding by striking the sources of the launches. This development followed an incident the previous day where several Israeli soldiers were wounded in northern Israel due to fire from Lebanon, according to CNN.
Simultaneously, the official Palestinian news agency, WAFA, reported that the southern city experienced "a series of airstrikes and artillery shelling on a number of areas" on Sunday, leading to increased pressure on hospitals in the region.
Providing an update on Sunday military activities, Israel military announced targeting over 250 Hamas sites in the past 24 hours, including what it referred to as Hamas communication sites and tunnels. The IDF had issued "an urgent appeal" on Saturday for civilians to evacuate much of Khan Younis, though the extent of awareness among the population remains uncertain due to limited communications in Gaza, CNN reported.
