OCCAR Orders More MIKRON Night Vision Googles for Belgium and Germany

Defense News ,Belgium & Germany :-  The Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation - Executive Administration (OCCAR-EA) has recently inked a significant amendment to the Night Vision Goggles (NVG) Contract, signifying an enlarged procurement initiative for both Belgium and Germany. This crucial agreement involves a partnership with Hensoldt Optronics GmbH and THEON Sensors SA consortium, entailing the acquisition of additional MIKRON Night Vision Goggle Sets and In-Service Support.

Belgium has already received 4,550 MIKRON NVG Sets, and Germany has secured 11,775 to date. The contract's second amendment introduces an additional 3,500 sets for Belgium, accompanied by initial In-Service Support for Germany and modifications to the existing support for Belgium. Moreover, the amendment includes options for an extra 16,041 NVG Sets for Germany and up to 25,000 more for either nation, along with 8,423 new Head Mounting Systems for Germany, complete with support for these added sets.

Notably, representatives from Belgium and Germany have commended the exceptional achievements of the Night Vision Capability (NVC) Programme. They particularly praised OCCAR's efficient management and the robust cooperation between the two nations.

The MIKRON NVG, renowned for its lightweight design and dual tube binocular structure, offers versatile operation modes such as helmet-mounted, head-mounted, or handheld. It boasts features like an integrated infrared illuminator, flip-away monoculars for swift configuration changes, and can be powered by a single AA battery or a remote battery pack.

The overarching objective of the NVC programme is to elevate the night vision capabilities of dismounted soldiers and military vehicle drivers in Belgium and Germany. This collaborative procurement effort aims to enhance interoperability and mitigate logistical challenges in operational theaters where both nations are jointly deployed.
