Mindgrove Technologies Unveils India's First Indigenous Microcontroller Semiconductor
Mindgrove Technologies launches India's first indigenous microcontroller semiconductor, Secure IoT, offering cost-effective solutions for consumer electronics and digital infrastructure, driving the nation's Make-in-India initiative.
In a significant stride towards self-reliance in the semiconductor industry, an Indian start-up has introduced the country's inaugural indigenously-developed microcontroller semiconductor. This breakthrough promises a cost-effective alternative for manufacturers of consumer electronics and digital infrastructure, aligning with the Make-in-India initiative to bolster the electronics sector.
Mindgrove Technologies, supported by Peak XV Partners and incubated by IIT-Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation and IIT-Madras Incubation Cell, unveiled its pioneering achievement, Secure IoT, a high-performance System on Chip (SoC).
Utilizing RISC-V architecture, this chip empowers domestic original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to integrate an Indian SoC into their devices, resulting in significant cost reductions. Mindgrove Technologies asserts that its chip is 30% more economical than existing market options.
A microcontroller chip serves as a microcomputer embedded within a system, facilitating specific functions like signal reception or information display. This versatile chip can be deployed across various devices, including smartwatches, smart city infrastructure such as connected meters, fans, speakers, and even in the battery management systems of electric vehicles.
Shashwath TR, Chief Executive and Co-founder of Mindgrove Technologies, emphasized the company's focus on addressing the gap between high-end and low-end players in the embedded systems domain. By prioritizing cost-effectiveness and performance, Mindgrove aims to cater to the middle market segment, offering enhanced flexibility, adaptability, security, and cost-efficiency.
Clocking at 700 MHz, this high-performance microchip controller stands as the sole commercially available Indian-made chip in its segment. Furthermore, Mindgrove Technologies provides comprehensive design support to facilitate innovation and scale production.
Headquartered at the IIT-Madras Research Park in Chennai, this start-up marks a significant milestone in India's journey towards semiconductor self-sufficiency. With its commitment to technological advancement and affordability, Mindgrove Technologies is poised to reshape the landscape of the electronics industry, contributing to India's vision of a self-reliant digital ecosystem.
