Mazgaon Dockyard and Gujarat Government Collaborate to Explore Submarine Tourism in Bet Dwarka

Defense News ,India :- In anticipation of the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat summit in January 2024, Mazgaon Dockyard Limited (MDL) has embarked on an ambitious venture in collaboration with the Government of Gujarat, signaling a potential breakthrough in submarine tourism. The recent Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between MDL and the state government sets the stage for the exploration of an extraordinary underwater experience in the Bet Dwarka region, reaching depths of up to 100 meters.

The collaborative effort between MDL and the Gujarat government underscores the state keen interest in acquiring a submarine dedicated to tourism, promising to introduce a distinctive element to Gujarat tourism landscape. The envisioned submarine aims to immerse tourists in the pristine waters around Bet Dwarka, offering a novel perspective on the underwater world.

As the MOU serves as a preliminary step in this groundbreaking collaboration, it signifies a mutual commitment to investigating the feasibility and logistics of constructing a submarine tailored for tourism. MDL Chairman and Managing Director, Sanjeev Singhal, shed light on the project current status, emphasizing that the construction progression is contingent upon the final decision of the Gujarat government.

Singhal clarified, "We have entered into an MOU with the government of Gujarat, and until a decision is finalized, we cannot proceed with the construction of the submarine. We will move forward when the Gujarat government makes a decision."

The potential submarine, once realized, is expected to submerge to depths of 100 meters, providing tourists with a captivating view of the underwater wonders surrounding Bet Dwarka. Beyond the recreational aspect, such initiatives often play a pivotal role in stimulating local economies by creating employment opportunities and attracting investments in related infrastructure.

While the collaborative endeavor awaits the Gujarat government final decision, stakeholders, including MDL, are poised to initiate the construction phase once the green light is received. The outcome of this ambitious project holds the promise of reshaping Gujarat tourism landscape and positioning Bet Dwarka as a distinctive underwater destination.

The signing of the MOU marks the initial strides toward realizing the vision of underwater tourism, highlighting the significance of collaborative efforts between government bodies and industry players in promoting innovative and sustainable tourism initiatives.
