Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi Assumes Vice Chief of Army Staff Role, Potential Next Army Chief

Defense News ,India :- Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi took over as the Vice Chief of Army Staff on Monday, succeeding Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar. Previously, Lt Gen Dwivedi held the position of Northern Army Commander.

Lt Gen Kumar has now been appointed as the General-Officer-Commanding of the Northern Command based in Udhampur.

Lt Gen Dwivedi is likely to become the next Army Chief when General Manoj Pande retires on May 31. In his first official duty, Lt Gen Dwivedi paid tribute to the fallen heroes at the National War Memorial and inspected a guard of honour before assuming his new role.
