Israel Wants Additional Apache Helicopters from US for Use Against Hamas

Defense News ,Israel & hamas War :- The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have formally requested additional Apache attack helicopters from the United States to bolster their aerial efforts against Hamas militants, according to reports from Ynetnews. The request was a focal point of discussions between Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin during their recent meeting in Israel.

With two Apache helicopter flight squadrons engaged in round-the-clock operations in Gaza since the outbreak of the conflict, the demand on these units has surged significantly. The Israeli government is now considering the acquisition of more helicopters to alleviate the operational strain.

The precise number of Boeing-made Apache helicopters sought in the request was not disclosed in the report. While several defense sources indicated that Washington has yet to make a decision, there is speculation that the request may face a denial from US authorities.

The urgency of Israel request stems from the escalating operational pressure arising from the ongoing conflict with Hamas. In response to the heightened demands, Israel has adopted unconventional measures, including the recall of retired pilots for immediate deployment in Gaza. Aviators in the age range of 55-60 are also being recruited to fill crucial operational positions.

Furthermore, the report highlights that the Israeli Air Force has mandated increased flight hours for active-duty pilots to support combat and reconnaissance missions. This has led to some aviators spending up to four consecutive hours in their cockpits, showcasing the intensity of the current operational environment.
