Israel Seizes Over USD 1.3 Million in Cash from Hamas

Israeli forces in Gaza have announced the confiscation of five million shekels (USD 1.3 million) in cash from locations associated with terrorist activities and homes of Hamas members, as revealed by Israel Defense Ministry on Sunday. The seized funds, comprising Israeli shekels, US dollars, as well as Jordanian and Iraqi currency, will undergo counting and be deposited into state coffers.

Amidst this development, Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lt Gen Herzi Halevi assured troops that operations against Hamas would resume after the temporary ceasefire aimed at facilitating the release of hostages held by Hamas. Halevi emphasized the commitment to protecting lives and upholding military values, stating that conditions for the release of hostages, including children and mothers, were created during the truce. Once the deal concludes, efforts will resume for the continued release of hostages and the complete dismantlement of Hamas.

On a positive note, thirteen Israeli hostages were released by Hamas on Saturday night in the second exchange since the four-day truce began. Additionally, 15 foreign nationals were freed in separate deals, and Israel released 78 Palestinians incarcerated for security offenses. The Gaza Strip received humanitarian aid, including 200 trucks of goods and fuel.

During a tour of the Gaza Strip, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant asserted that IDF troops would remain until all remaining captives are returned. Gallant highlighted the cyclical nature of negotiations with Hamas, stating that increased military pressure prompts temporary breaks and offers, emphasizing that the war will persist until all hostages are brought back. He noted that any further negotiations would occur amidst ongoing military operations.
