Indian Ambassador Discusses Safety of Workers in Israel with Minister for Labour: Updates on Bilateral Relations
Indian Ambassador to Israel, Sanjeev Singla, held discussions with Israel’s Minister for Labour, Yoav Ben-Tzur, on Wednesday regarding bilateral relations and the safety of Indian workers in Israel.
The Embassy of India in Israel shared insights from the meeting, stating that Ambassador Singla was briefed on the enforcement activities of the Ministry aimed at ensuring the rights and welfare of Indian workers in Israel.
During a press briefing last week, Randhir Jaiswal, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), highlighted the initiation of the government-to-government (G2G) agreement, facilitating the travel of individuals to Israel. Jaiswal emphasized the Indian government's call for the Israeli authorities to prioritize the safety of Indian workers.
Earlier this year, a recruitment drive commenced at the Maharshi Dayanand University in Rohtak, Haryana, aiming to enlist over 10,000 Indian construction workers for employment opportunities in Israel.
MEA spokesperson Jaiswal informed that approximately 18,000 Indian workers are currently in Israel. He stressed that the Indian Embassy in Israel maintains regular contact with them to ensure their safety, underscoring it as a primary concern for the Indian government.
Jaiswal reiterated the importance of the safety and well-being of Indian workers in Israel, emphasizing the need for Israeli authorities to take necessary measures to safeguard them. He emphasized the significance of the G2G agreement and urged for proactive efforts from both Indian and Israeli authorities to prioritize the welfare of Indian workers.
