India-US Joint Exercise 'Tiger Triumph-24': Enhancing Disaster Relief Cooperation

Defense News , India :-  India and the United States recently teamed up for a big joint training exercise called 'Tiger Triumph-24' on Kakinada Beach. This exercise was all about getting ready to help people during emergencies like natural disasters. They practiced working together to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR).

The idea behind this exercise was to make sure both countries' forces are ready to help out if something bad happens, like a big storm or an earthquake. They practiced things like landing on the beach and setting up a hospital and a camp for people who might have to leave their homes because of a disaster.

During the exercise, both Indian and US teams worked together closely. Indian Navy ships, helicopters, and landing craft, along with personnel and vehicles from the Indian Army and aircraft from the Indian Air Force, all joined in. The United States also brought in its Navy ships with troops from the US Marine Corps and the US Army.

Together, they practiced using different kinds of boats and helicopters to support their operations. The aim was to make sure they could quickly and smoothly coordinate their efforts if they ever had to respond to a real disaster.

One of the big goals of this exercise was to improve the way both countries' armed forces can work together during emergencies. They wanted to make sure they could follow the same procedures and understand each other well, so they can be more effective in helping people when they need it most.

Top officials from both countries, like Jennifer Larson from the US Consulate General Hyderabad, watched the exercise. They were impressed by how well the teams worked together.

Rear Admiral Joaquin J Martinez de Pinillos from the US highlighted the growing partnership between India and the United States in defense matters. He pointed out that exercises like Tiger Triumph build trust and show that both countries can rely on each other in times of crisis.

Rear Admiral Rajesh Dhankar from India also praised the exercise, saying it helped both countries improve their abilities to save lives during disasters. He emphasized the importance of such joint efforts in handling relief activities effectively.

Tiger Triumph-24 started in Visakhapatnam on March 18 and will continue until March 31. It involves ships from both countries, including INS Jalashwa and USS Somerset, as well as others like USS Halsey, INS Airavat, and INS Kesari.

Overall, the exercise was a success in strengthening the partnership between India and the United States and improving their capabilities to respond to disasters together. It showed that when it comes to helping people in need, cooperation knows no borders.
