India Portable Missile Shield "VSHORADS" Ready for User Trials
Defense News ,India :- Indian armed forces are on the brink of incorporating a groundbreaking addition to their air defense capabilities. The homegrown Very Short-Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS), designed to counter low-altitude threats within a range of 6km, is slated for user trials in the coming months, as per a statement from a senior defense official.
VSHORADS is poised to outshine the existing Man-Portable Air Defence Systems (MANPADS) in the Indian military, thanks to its cutting-edge uncooled imaging infrared seeker, offering distinct advantages in terms of technology and performance.
Aside from its technical superiority, VSHORADS presents a cost-effective solution for swift deployment, making it easily adaptable for close air defense of critical assets. Its versatility extends to both high-altitude terrains and maritime settings, providing a robust defense mechanism.
The upcoming user trials are a pivotal moment for VSHORADS, acting as a crucial determinant for its potential inclusion in the Indian arsenal. A successful trial could herald a new era in air defense capabilities, equipping troops with a dependable and adaptable weapon to counter low-altitude threats effectively.
