India HAL Spending Over Rs 2,000 Crore This Year On R&D
Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), India leading aerospace company, is making substantial strides in research and development (R&D) with an investment exceeding Rs 2,000 crore this year. This financial commitment aligns with HAL overarching strategy to enhance indigenous capabilities in critical avionics and associated hardware, as highlighted by a senior official from the state-run organization on Wednesday.
Scheduled for December 7 and 8, HAL aims to showcase its extensive legacy in designing, developing, and producing a diverse array of avionics systems at an expo in Delhi. Dr. D K Sunil, Director of Engineering and R&D at HAL, emphasized the company dedication to fostering "Atmanirbharta" or self-reliance in defense, a journey HAL has been undertaking over several years.
"We have allocated over Rs 2,000 crore for R&D this year," Sunil mentioned, underlining the significant investment HAL has made in its expansive research infrastructure, comprising nine R&D centers. HAL focus is now explicitly directed towards developing critical avionics components to meet both present and future demands.
The senior official emphasized the importance of showcasing the avionics segment, encompassing navigation, identification systems, communication systems, mission computers, and various other equipment integrated into aircraft. HAL "Avionics Expo 2023" is positioned as a central gathering for professionals, industry leaders, and aviation stakeholders, providing networking opportunities to establish connections, encourage collaborations, and explore potential business partnerships.
During the expo, HAL plans to exhibit an extensive range of avionics products developed in-house. Engaging panel discussions featuring experts from the Indian armed forces, HAL, partner organizations, and academia will cover emerging trends in avionics, challenges in system integration, and the future of aviation electronics.
The expo will offer live demonstrations of avionics products and systems, allowing attendees a firsthand experience of their capabilities. Sunil reiterated that the event is a testament to HAL commitment to advancing aerospace technology in India.
