"Example of humanity and teamwork.": PM Modi After 41 Workers Rescued from Silkyara Tunnel

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended the courage and determination of the rescuers involved in the Silkyara tunnel operation. He praised their efforts in providing a new lease of life to the laborers who had been trapped in the tunnel for the past 16 days. Modi highlighted the mission as an exemplary display of humanity and teamwork.

Expressing his emotions, PM Modi, speaking on X, conveyed a heartfelt message to the trapped individuals, acknowledging their bravery and patience. He extended his well wishes for their recovery, stating, "The success of the rescue operation of our laborer brothers in Uttarkashi is making everyone emotional. I want to say to the friends who were trapped in the tunnel that your courage and patience is inspiring everyone. I wish you all well and good health."

Modi expressed great satisfaction that the trapped individuals would finally reunite with their loved ones after a prolonged wait. He commended the families for their resilience and courage during this challenging time. The Prime Minister also lauded everyone involved in the mission, emphasizing that they have collectively set a remarkable example of humanity and teamwork.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, along with Union Minister of State General (Retd) VK Singh, met the rescued workers, acknowledging the tireless efforts of the rescuers over the 16-day operation. Locals celebrated the successful rescue by distributing sweets outside the Silkyara tunnel.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari expressed his relief and happiness at the successful rescue of the 41 trapped laborers in the Silkyara Tunnel Collapse. He praised the well-coordinated efforts of multiple agencies, describing it as one of the most significant rescue operations in recent years. Gadkari highlighted the seamless collaboration among various departments and agencies despite numerous challenges. He credited the tireless and sincere efforts of the rescue teams, coupled with prayers from all, for the favorable outcome.

Harpal Singh, Project Head of Zoji-la Tunnel, provided details about the breakthrough, mentioning that it occurred at 7:05 pm. He noted the presence of Uttarakhand CM, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, and Civil Aviation Gen VK Singh at the site.
