Elistair Secures €3 Million Deal to Supply Khronos Tethered Drones for Military Surveillance
Elistair, a French leader in tethered unmanned aerial systems (UAS), has secured a €3 million contract to supply its Khronos small tethered drones to an undisclosed allied military force. The deal, finalized in collaboration with Milrem Robotics, includes not only the provision of drones but also initial spare parts, training, and long-term operational support.
The Khronos system is specifically designed for integration with moving military vehicles, offering unparalleled persistent aerial surveillance and real-time intelligence gathering. Unlike conventional drones, Khronos operates with a tethered power supply, enabling extended flight durations without battery limitations. This capability allows it to provide continuous surveillance for hours or even days, making it an essential tool for reconnaissance and security operations.
One of Khronos' standout features is its ability to function in GPS-denied environments, an increasingly critical requirement in modern warfare where electronic warfare and GPS jamming are prevalent threats. Its automated operation reduces the need for constant manual control, making it highly effective in high-risk, rapidly evolving combat situations.
Under the agreement, Milrem Robotics will supply advanced military vehicles equipped with Elistair’s cutting-edge drone technology. These integrated systems will significantly enhance situational awareness, allowing forces to monitor battlefields, borders, and high-risk zones in real-time. The ability to deploy aerial reconnaissance from moving platforms gives armed forces a critical advantage, improving both operational effectiveness and troop safety.
Elistair has already established itself as a key provider of tethered drone solutions, serving armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and security services in over 70 countries. Its technology is widely used in border surveillance, counter-terrorism operations, event security, and tactical communications.
With offices in France and North Carolina, Elistair continues to expand its global presence in the defense sector. The latest contract reinforces its position as a trusted supplier of aerial reconnaissance solutions, further solidifying its role in modern military operations.
Deliveries under this contract are set to begin in the second quarter of 2025. As modern battlefields increasingly rely on real-time intelligence and persistent surveillance, the demand for tethered drone technology is expected to grow. Elistair’s successful deal could pave the way for future contracts, further strengthening its influence in the global defense market.
