EODH Secures Contract for Puma Vehicle Protection Modules
Defense News , Europe :- Krauss-Maffei
Wegmann (KMW), a key player within the KNDS consortium, recently inked a
significant deal with Greek manufacturer EODH to produce protection
modules for the renowned Puma infantry fighting vehicle. This contract
marks another milestone in the enduring collaboration between leading
European defense manufacturers.
The Puma, a collaborative
creation of Project System Management GmbH (PSM), a joint venture
between KMW and Rheinmetall Landsysteme, has already witnessed the
deployment of 350 units to the Bundeswehr, with an additional order for
50 vehicles placed in May 2023.
Under the terms of the contract,
EODH is tasked with supplying protection modules for the 50 newly
ordered Puma vehicles, with an option for an additional 50. EODH,
recognized for its expertise in manufacturing protection modules for
battle tanks and armored vehicles, has extended its commitment until
2035, building on its existing contributions under various contracts set
to expire in 2032.
Apart from its involvement in the Puma
project, EODH has an impressive track record in delivering protection
modules for battle tanks such as Leopard 2 and Dingo. The company has
recently completed deliveries for Hungarian Leopard 2A7 tanks and
initiated production for Norwegian Leopard 2A7 NOR tanks, with options
for an extra 18 units.
EODH is actively engaged in protecting the
Bundeswehr Leopard 2A7V tanks and is currently in discussions with KMW
for potential new orders ranging from 300 to 700 battle tanks.
Furthermore, talks are underway regarding potential upgrades for 300
Leopard 2A4 and Leopard 1A5 tanks.
In addition to its
contributions to the Puma project, EODH is playing a crucial role in
supplying protection modules for the GTK Boxer 8×8, a vehicle introduced
by the British Army. This ongoing project, initiated in 2021 and
covering 500 vehicles initially, showcases the company diverse
capabilities. EODH product portfolio also includes the Hoplite (4×4)
armored vehicle, introduced in the same year, with discussions underway
with various countries expressing interest in its capabilities.
Responding
to the escalating demand, EODH has decided to boost its production
capacity by an impressive 300%. The construction of a second
manufacturing facility commenced in 2023, scheduled to be operational in
2024, equipped with new extensive storage capacities. The company is
also making strategic investments in cutting-edge machinery, including
five-axis CNC machines and water jet cutting machines. Deliveries for
the Puma project have already commenced since December, showcasing the
company commitment to meeting the evolving needs of modern defense.
