In line with the strategic vision of the Indian Government to bolster the Digital Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defence inked a contract with Telecommunications Consultants India Limited (TCIL) on December 8, 2023. The agreement, valued at Rs 588.68 crore, falls under the Buy (Indian) category and pertains to the implementation of the Digital Coast Guard (DCG) project.
A groundbreaking initiative for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), the DCG Project is set to unfold a comprehensive tale of technological advancement. It encompasses the establishment of an advanced Data Centre, the creation of a robust Disaster Recovery Data Centre, the enhancement of connectivity across ICG sites, and the development of the ERP system. The project harnesses secure MPLS/VSAT connectivity, propelling itself to the forefront of cutting-edge defense technology.
At its essence, the DCG project signifies the establishment of a Tier-III standard Data Centre equipped with the latest technological capabilities. Serving as the nerve center, it facilitates centralized monitoring and management of applications deployed by the ICG, ensuring vigilant oversight of critical IT assets.
Projected to generate approximately one and a half lakh man-days over a span of five years, the project encourages active participation from various sectors of the Indian industries. This significant engagement contributes substantially to the Government overarching goal of achieving "Atmanirbharta" (self-reliance) in defense.
