Centre Of Excellence In AI & Robotics Inaugurated At Army Institute Of Technology ,Pune

Defense News ,India :- Lt Gen Manjit Kumar, Chief of Staff of the Southern Command, inaugurated the Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence & Robotics (CEAR) at the Army Institute of Technology (AIT) in Pune. This facility, equipped with advanced tools and cutting-edge technologies, signifies a significant leap forward for the Indian Army in fostering innovation and education. The CEAR, with a focus on applications in defense, healthcare, agriculture, and more, aims to empower students and faculty to collaborate on real-world problem-solving using AI and robotics.

Situated within the AIT campus, the CEAR stands as a testament to the Indian Army's commitment to harnessing the potential of emerging technologies. In addition to inaugurating the CEAR, Lt Gen Manjit Kumar also presided over the felicitation ceremony of INNERVE 8, the largest student-driven hackathon organized by the Open-Source Software Club at AIT. With a substantial prize pool exceeding ₹10 lakh, INNERVE 8 showcased the talents and problem-solving skills of students across disciplines. Lt Gen Kumar commended the participants for their efforts and encouraged them to continue pushing the boundaries of innovation.


"The spirit of collaboration, learning, and experimentation that I witnessed at INNERVE 8 is truly inspiring. I am confident that the solutions developed here today will go on to make a significant impact in our society," remarked Lt Gen Manjit Kumar.


Armament Technology Lab at MILIT: Honoring History and Fostering Education


Just a day before the CEAR inauguration, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, Chief of Air Staff, visited the Military Institute of Technology (MILIT) in Girinagar, Pune. In a nod to the rich history of the Indian armed forces, he inaugurated the Armament Technology Lab, showcasing weapons and ammunition dating back to the 17th century. This unique lab serves as an educational resource, providing insights into the historical context and technical intricacies of various weapons systems.


Air Chief Marshal Chaudhari, during his visit, emphasized the Indian Air Force's transition into a contemporary and future-ready aerospace force. The Armament Technology Lab serves as a bridge between the past and the future, offering students a comprehensive understanding of the evolution of military technology.
