BrahMos NG Missile Set for Drop Tests by 2025, Anticipated Deployment in 2026
Defense News ,India :- India is getting better at making missiles, and they have a new one called BrahMos NG (New Generation). It's smaller and lighter than the old one, and it's going to help the Indian Air Force (IAF) a lot.
The boss of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Atul Dinkar Rane, and CEO & MD of BrahMos Aerospace, said that the BrahMos NG program is going well.
By the middle of 2025, they want to do some very important tests where they drop the missile and check if it works okay without power. This will help them understand how the missile flies and separates from the aircraft that launches it.
If these tests go well, they plan to start testing the missile with power by the end of 2025. This means they could start using the new missile in 2026, which is pretty fast.
The BrahMos NG is better than the old one in a few ways. It's smaller and lighter, so more planes can carry it. This gives the Indian Air Force more options for using it.
Even though it's smaller, the BrahMos NG can still do the same things as the old missile. It can fly up to 290 kilometers and go really fast at Mach 3.5. This means the Air Force can still hit faraway targets accurately and quickly.
