Bharat Electronics Secures ₹445 Crore Contract to Enhance Uttar Pradesh Emergency Response System

Defense News ,India :- Bharat Electronics, the state-owned aerospace and defense electronics company, has recently inked a significant contract valued at ₹445 crore with the Uttar Pradesh government. This agreement, finalized last week, is poised to revolutionize the Dial 112 project—an emergency response system implemented by the Uttar Pradesh government.

Under the terms of the contract, Bharat Electronics will deliver a comprehensive suite of cutting-edge hardware, AI-based software tools, and state-of-the-art cybersecurity solutions. The company expressed its enthusiasm about this collaboration, hailing the project as one of Asia largest emergency response systems. Additionally, Bharat Electronics plans to leverage a network of domestic suppliers, including MSMEs, for the seamless execution of the project.

In a statement released on Tuesday to announce the contract, Bharat Electronics disclosed that it has also secured additional orders amounting to ₹233 crore. These supplementary orders encompass communication display units, thermal imaging cameras, and various other spares and services.

This latest development comes on the heels of Bharat Electronics receiving substantial orders totaling ₹2,673 crore from Goa Shipyard Limited (₹1,701 crore) and Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (₹972 crore). These orders involve the supply of 14 types of sensors for use on Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessels (NGOPV).

Notably, Bharat Electronics has accumulated orders worth a staggering ₹26,613 crore in the current financial year 2023-24, cementing its position as a key player in the defense electronics sector.

Earlier in December, the company was honored with five awards at the Indian Chamber of Commerce - PSE Excellence Awards, including prestigious titles such as "Company of the Year," "Contribution of Women," "Operational Performance Excellence," and "CSR & Sustainability."

As of today, Bharat Electronics shares have witnessed an impressive 82 percent cumulative increase in 2023, reaching ₹82.85 per share at 12:38 pm.

These developments align with the central government ambitious target of achieving indigenous defense manufacturing worth ₹1,75,000 crore, including defense exports of ₹35,000 crore, by the year 2024-25. The government commitment to promoting self-reliance in defense manufacturing is evident through various policy initiatives and reforms implemented in recent years.
