Baloch National Movement Reiterates call for Freedom on International Human Rights Day
The Baloch National Movement recently organized a seminar in Amsterdam, Netherlands, marking International Human Rights Day. The focus of the event was to shed light on the ongoing crisis in Baluchistan and reiterate the call for liberation from unlawful occupation.
The seminar drew participation from members of the Baloch National Movement, the Baloch community, and various human rights activists. A powerful video documentary at the outset of the event showcased the persistent human rights violations in Baluchistan perpetrated by Pakistani forces.
Naseem Baloch, Chairman of the Baloch National Movement, emphasized the Baloch people enduring struggle for freedom and sovereignty. Over the course of many decades, the Balochs have endured inhumane treatment, he noted. Naseem underscored the courage and resilience demonstrated in the current Baloch struggle, particularly in the ongoing protests by families of abducted Baloch individuals. This, he emphasized, is a testament to their bravery and resistance against systematic oppression and violence.
Applauding the remarkable contribution of Baloch women in the struggle, Naseem highlighted the leadership of young female activists who are fearlessly spearheading the political resistance in Baluchistan.
Calling on the Baloch nation to stand united against the illegal occupation of Balochistan, Naseem stressed that freedom is indispensable for achieving peace and safeguarding the human rights of the Baloch people. He expressed the urgency of countering an inhumane adversary that disregards international law and resorts to destructive acts, such as bomb attacks targeting the remains of previously abducted individuals.
Naseem urged the Baloch diaspora to feel the suffering of their people keenly and focus on sustained resistance. He emphasized the role of individuals in history who stood against injustice, suppression, and slavery, striving for the freedom of Balochistan.
Italian journalist and author Francisco Marino, speaking at the seminar, labeled the situation in Baluchistan as genocide, emphasizing that every imaginable violation of human rights is occurring in the region at the hands of Pakistani forces.
Political scientist and author Ayesha Siddique highlighted the continuous human rights violations by Pakistani forces against the Baloch people, extending even to other parts of Pakistan. She stressed the need for global awareness about the Balochistan conflict, urging the Baloch to reach a broader audience to garner support.
At a conference in Pakistan, advocate and senior politician Afrasyab Khattak expressed concern about the issue of missing persons in Baluchistan. He revealed a distressing policy of targeting Baloch youth by abducting them from university campuses, subjecting them to torture, and executing them in staged encounters. Khattak noted that the release of one missing person is often accompanied by the abduction of four others.
Samul Baloch, Vice President of the BNM Germany chapter, echoed the sentiment that every human being deserves basic human rights, emphasizing that the Baloch nation has been denied these rights and subjected to severe violence by Pakistani forces.
