BAE Systems Unveils Advanced Armored Vehicle Prototype at 2024 AUSA Symposium

Defense News ,U.S :-  BAE Systems is showcasing its latest Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV) prototype at the 2024 AUSA Global Force Symposium. This prototype, equipped with the External Mission Equipment Package (ExMEP), represents a significant advancement in military technology.

ExMEP, also known as the universal top plate, serves as a common integration point across all AMPV hull structures. It allows for seamless incorporation of modernized technology enhancements. This marks the third successful capability combination achieved by BAE Systems in the past six months.

The AMPV’s ExMEP can accommodate over 30 turret systems, enhancing the vehicle's versatility. It builds upon the AMPV's modular design, enabling swift integration of new mission roles. The latest prototype features Elbit America’s UT30, a 30mm unmanned turret. BAE Systems has also demonstrated the integration of a Counter-Unmanned Aircraft System (C-UAS) prototype in November 2023 and delivered a 120mm unmanned Turreted Mortar capability to the U.S. Army in January 2024, both utilizing the ExMEP design.

Bill Sheehy, AMPV program director for BAE Systems, emphasized the importance of quickly fielding modern capabilities. As a former soldier, he understands the critical need for staying ahead of evolving threats on the battlefield. The AMPV with ExMEP aims to meet this objective.

The newest prototype showcases the versatility of ExMEP and its ability to facilitate rapid integration of next-generation technology onto a proven hull. This purpose-built platform offers numerous opportunities for configuring future capabilities for the Army and its allies.
