Armed Forces of Ukraine are taking full advantage of their THeMIS UGVs

Defense News ,Ukraine :- Milrem Robotics provided Ukraine with 14 special robot vehicles called THeMIS to support their armed forces in the conflict with Russia. These robots are proving to be very helpful for tasks like removing dangerous explosives, clearing routes, and delivering supplies. The soldiers using them have shared feedback with the company, highlighting how these robots are making a big difference.

The THeMIS robots are doing important jobs like clearing areas of anti-tank mines and unexploded bombs. They're also transporting equipment to places that regular vehicles can't reach or where it's too risky for human soldiers. Captain Jüri Pajuste, who oversees the Ukrainian program at Milrem Robotics, emphasized that the most crucial benefit is not just saving equipment but, more importantly, saving lives.

Out of the 14 robots delivered, seven are designed for carrying cargo and helping with evacuating injured soldiers. The other seven, equipped with special tools from the French CNIM, are used for clearing routes and getting rid of dangerous mines.

Casualty evacuation and route clearance are risky tasks for soldiers, as they can become targets for the enemy. However, using these robots keeps the soldiers safe because they can be operated from a distance. The robots have even been used to speed up mining operations by carrying anti-tank mines.

During challenging conditions like the muddy season in Ukraine, known as "bezdorizhzhia," the THeMIS robots act as supply vehicles instead of heavy trucks that might get stuck. Their small size and low height also make them hard for the enemy to detect, increasing their chances of survival.

For security reasons, the details about which units are using these robot systems and where they are deployed are kept confidential. Milrem Robotics recently signed an agreement with the Ukrainian Defence Industry to work together on developing and manufacturing more advanced robotic systems that can enhance Ukraine's military capabilities both during and after the conflict.

As part of this collaboration, they will integrate the experience gained on the battlefield into Milrem Robotics' existing robots and create new products to improve Ukraine's abilities in various domains. They will also explore the possibility of manufacturing THeMIS Combat, Combat Engineering, CASEVAC unmanned ground vehicles, and other Milrem Robotics' products within Ukraine.

Milrem Robotics is a leading European company in robotics and autonomous systems, with offices in several countries. They are well-known for their THeMIS and Multiscope robot vehicles, the Type-X Robotic Combat Vehicle, and the MIFIK autonomy kit.
