Amentum Empowers UK's Hypersonic Future: Leading Role in $1 Billion Development Framework

Amentum, a prominent player in global engineering and solutions integration, has secured a pivotal role in the UK's Hypersonic Technologies & Capability Development Framework (HTCDF). This framework, valued at up to $1.25 billion (£1 billion) over the next seven years, aims to accelerate the development of a sovereign UK Hypersonic Strike Capability. This initiative also strengthens collaboration under the AUKUS alliance with Australia and the United States.

Under the HTCDF, Amentum has been selected across all lots, enabling them to compete for contracts to deliver a comprehensive range of services to the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD). These services encompass advanced research, cutting-edge simulation, technology development, seamless integration solutions, and rigorous testing.

Mark Whitney, President of Amentum’s National Security Group, highlighted the company's extensive experience in hypersonic technologies, qualifying them across all lots of the HTCDF. Amentum’s track record includes research, development, systems engineering, and test support for various US Defense agencies, including DARPA, the Air Force, Navy, and Army.

The company’s expertise spans the entire project lifecycle, covering systems engineering, mission planning, propulsion, materials technology, sensor integration, platform integration, test design, safety systems, and cost analysis. Whitney emphasized Amentum's collaborative approach with prime equipment manufacturers, technology specialists, and academic institutions to deliver state-of-the-art technologies and engineering solutions.

Amentum’s involvement is set to expedite the MOD’s mission to establish a sovereign UK hypersonic strike capability, significantly enhancing national security. Headquartered in Chantilly, Virginia, Amentum operates globally with over 35,000 employees in 79 countries across all seven continents. Their commitment to operational excellence, innovation, and ethical practices underscores their role in modernizing critical missions worldwide.
